Description
The Niagara Gorge is home to the majority of the plant species found in the Niagara Frontier, many of them very rare.
Event Details
Unfortunately, the health of this sensitive environment can easily be harmed by many factors, especially the threat of exotic invasive plant species.
To fortify the gorge and restore its health, the Land Conservancy is leading “Restore the Gorge” project, a multi-year effort that will remove invasive plant species, and replace them with native trees, shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers.
Join us as we explore the plant life of the Niagara Gorge with invasive species expert, Andrea Locke, who works as the coordinator for the Western New York Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM).
Attendees should be prepared to hike up and down steep steps and on difficult terrain.
Participants will park and gather in the Niagara Gorge Discovery Center Parking Lot
This tour is a part of the Land Conservancy's multi-year Restore the Gorge project, which will maintain and enhance the ecological diversity of the remarkable Niagara Gorge...
