What to Do in Allentown
Allentown is the center for much of the cultural and arts activity in the city of Buffalo. Historic row houses and other turn of the century architecture are prevalent in this area. Whether you are taking a leisurely stroll through Day's Park or stopping by Nietzsche's for a Blue and some blue's, there is always something going on in Allentown.
This area is home to the Allentown Arts Festival. Each year craftsman, artists, and other vendors from around the world descend on Allentown to display their wares. Shoppers can walk up and down the streets of this historic district and see all manner of items on display. From paintings, to wood carvings, to full metal sculptures one can find all manner of unique crafts and items. There are also many food vendors who set up shop as well. Kettle corn, fried dough, Italian Ice, and of course Sahlen's hot dogs and sausages all can be find during this festival.
One things you have to do if you are planning to make a trip into Allentown: go to the Old Pink and get a steak sandwich. While the place may smell of old beer and the floor has seen better days, they make the best steak sandwich in the city.
