Dunkirk
About Dunkirk
Dunkirk, New York, a small city located in Chautauqua County, is home to not more than fifteen thousand people. Seated on the shores of Lake Erie, Dunkirk boasts some lovely lake views despite its tiny size. With only a total of 4.6 square miles, Dunkirk is one of those cities than can be driven across in but a few minutes. However, that is not to say that this city is without its high points and offerings. The City Department of Development in Dunkirk is busily working on increasing opportunities and development within the city. Most recently, they opened the Dunkirk Boardwalk Market, a line of shops and other commercial space located directly on the shores of Lake Erie. Open year round, the Boardwalk Market is a wonderful place for residents and tourists alike. With its small home-town feel, it is no wonder that Dunkirk has a good selection of local festivals and events. Dunkirk boasts a seasonal "Music on the Pier" beginning in June of each year and running for several weeks. The city also offers the Wreck and Roll Festival and the Chadwick Bay Beach Bash (which includes baseball and soccer tournaments, a moonlight movie, and sand sculpting contests!) Although it may be small, Dunkirk seems a delightful place to call home-a place where you'll know most of the residents and you might discover the entire city to become you family!
